I hope my interview on Avatari's podcast inspired you as much as it inspired me. It felt freeing sharing my own mental health & spiritual struggles after losing my dad 5 years ago to a drunk driver.
You heard about forgiveness, about my hardened heart (which is finally becoming soft again 🥹), and about my transformation as a husband, father and entrepreneur.
First - On this page, you'll find 2 songs. One is the song we talked about in the interview, and the other is a "cheesy dad rap" I recorded to promote a new program I'm launching called Young Founders Academy to help kids become confident entrepreneurs and avoid being replaced by AI 😳
Second - If you are a parent, and you're interested in connecting & learning more about Young Founders Academy, click the button. I'll get you on the waiting list :)
[Chorus]
Your t-shirt don’t fit, but I wear it
I still need both of my parents
I’m coming home but it don’t feel the same with you gone
Your shoes are too big, but I’ll wear them
Cause my sisters need both of their parents
I’m coming home dad I promise I’ll take care of mom
[Verse 1]
All your clothes belong to me now
Wish I could smile cause you’re free now
I start to laugh, then I’m numb
Smell your scent in your room
And taste my tears on my tongue
All your shoes belong to me now
Wish I could smile cause you’re free now
I feel okay, then I’m not
Hear your voice in my dreams
I wake up, and then you’re gone
[Pre-Chorus]
You’re only here when I’m dreaming
I only breathe when I’m sleeping
My chest feels tight when I’m awake
Flip the lights off at night
Close my eyes to see your face
[Verse 2]
All your socks belong to me now
Wish I could smile cause you’re free now
I think I’m fine, then I’m lost
Need you here in our home
But you live, in my thoughts
[Pre-Chorus]
You’re only here when I’m dreaming
I only breathe when I’m sleeping
My chest feels tight when I’m awake
Flip the lights off at night
Close my eyes to see your face
[Verse 3 - Rap]
I wish we could have one more drink, and stay up late when I visit
I wish you could watch me live my dreams, with a heart so full of pride cause I did it
I wish you could hold my son some day… you’ll share the same blood, same heart, same name
Would been his biggest fan at his t-ball games, little Tommy smiling big cause his grandpa came
I wish you could fix my car again
Hang out in the hot tub look at stars again
I wish we could have one more argument…
One more argument… Yeah
Cause you could show me the truth when I was off base
You were sittin in the room when I got saved
You’d make us do projects mom’s day
And show me how to love a wife, do it God’s way
You were there for me to talk when I lost faith
I still need you here to call when I’m not sane
I wish we could go to one more ball game
I wish we could have one more golf day
I wish you could teach me one more lesson
I wish I could send you one more message
I wish we could go to one more breakfast
Cause every second with you was a blessing
[Outro]
You’re only here when I’m dreaming
I only breathe when I’m sleeping
My chest feels tight when I’m awake
Flip the lights off at night
Close my eyes to see your face
It was a normal day, yo
Daddy duty while I’m makin pesos
Write some copy, close a client, things were fine un-
till this diaper exploded (Waco)
This smells like chicken Alfredo
My daughter’s a twisty tornado
Once an angel then she flicked off the halo
But now that she’s clean with a bottle, she’s bueno…
I heard a knock at the door
I’m thinking what is this for?
Desperate solicitation from these pest control companies, they must be poor
Please help me Lord
I’m late for my meeting
But then I checked the ring camera, and saw it’s a kid, I said “okay I’ll greet him.” He said…
"I was wondering… Could I mow your lawn?" And that left an impression.
This kid was nervous but he had the courage to knock on my door at the risk of rejection
And I found that impressive, so I started asking some questions and found out this kid is 14 and not even a freshman?
That’s a kid with some crazy work ethic, so…
I called his mom and she said I could let him mow
(Parental consent is important )
He got rid of my weeds now they’re dead and gone
(And this kid has some money for Jordans)
End of summer, this kid’s mowing seven lawns
(I think you get the point of this story)
He inspired a movement so get involved…
